About Me

My name is Joseph Goodman and I am a professionally trained chef with over ten years of experience in the food and beverage industry. I am an incredibly driven and passionate person. My passion for food started at a very young age. My family owned and operated a small organic farm in Maryland. Some of my first vivid food memories are of harvesting crops and tending to the honey bees on this farm. In my adult life, I quickly learned that I could use my passion for food to bring people together and to spread joy.
I am the type of person that is most happy when I am able to make others happy. Through cooking, I am able to use my talent to bring happiness to others. I have spent the past decade singularly focused on mastering my craft as a cook and sous chef for top restaurants in the Washington, area. I have been fortunate enough to work alongside some of the most talented professionals in my industry. I am a sponge and have seized every opportunity to absorb knowledge from my mentors and my colleagues. This mentality does not stop at the workplace, as I am constantly cooking, researching, and experimenting with food in my time off.
Through my years of working in professional kitchens, I have honed my approach to food. I cook from scratch and find ways to use the entirety of a product with minimal waste.

  • Chef Joe Cooked us a absolutely fabulous Italian 3 course dinner. We started with a fennel salad that was amazing. Then chef Joe prepared a Creamy Parmesan Polenta and braised beef short ribs. The best short ribs my wife and I have ever had. Then came the Cinnamon Maple Pear brown butter oat crumble, whiskey creme anglaise. AWESOME!!

  • Chef Joe made my mother-in-laws festive sit-down dinner for 5 a raging success. He was very easy to work with, and brought beautiful keepsake menus that even included the wine pairings he and my husband had agreed on. I would especially commend his flexibility - we had originally agreed on a delicious-looking 5 course menu that included one of his signature pasta dishes, but then mother-in-law learned a few days before the dinner that she needed to become gluten-free...! Chef Joe took it all in stride, and transformed the menu to a gluten-free feast - every morsel very tasty. The risotto (instead of pasta....) and the fish courses were especially to die for, although every dish was both yummy and beautifully presented. Thank you, chef Joe - and can't wait to bring you back for an Italian wine evening where we get to try your pasta and bread(s)!
