I was born in Jerusalem and grew up in Ramallah; a bustling city with a food culture that is passionate about farm to table cuisine. Before moving to New York City, I spent eighteen years living in California where I had the opportunity to evolve and expand my culinary skills. I create inspired dishes where East meets West through Modern American, Levantine and Mediterranean cuisines amongst others. As a child growing up I spent many weekends in my grandmother’s kitchen observing her cook while she prepared my most memorable dishes. My mother simultaneously played a similar role that influenced my love for authentic homemade cooking. I was professionally trained in the Middle East which shaped my passion for creating cultural experiences through preparing authentic and rustic homemade cuisine.
I come from an art and design background which lends a creative touch into my eight professional years experience as a private chef. I have catered intimate and large private dinner parties, gallery dinners, office lunches, holiday events, including a fundraising events for a good cause. I’m sociable and easy to work with. I am organized and flexible when it comes to creating custom menus tailored for client’s nutritional needs.
I take pride and joy in preparing inspired memorable fusion menus as well as traditional dishes with complex cooking methods offering a burst of global flavors; from braised aromatic meats, sustainable seafood, seasonal vegetarian and vegan courses that equally embrace a diverse group guests at the dining table.
