About Me

Chef Taka Maezaki was born and raised in the iconic bustling streets of Tokyo Japan.
Japan taught him both popular authentic and traditional styles of Japanese cuisine. In 2006 his career led him to the US where he completed training and continues to master the art in traditional and fusion styles of Sushi. His contemporary fusion style has definitely earned a reputation for popularity amongst the many different backgrounds the melting pot of Los Angeles has to offer.
Currently Chef Taka shares his craft with others teaching cooking classes and providing a private chef experience on the West Coast. He can also be spotted behind the table at the newest boutique Sushi house Umeda restaurant on Melrose. No hiding behind a glass showcase here, Chef Taka’s knife skills are upfront and personal as you watch him slice each incredible bite.
With over 10 years behind him, Chef Taka provides a new experience where traditional Japanese food is infused with fun and all “Handrolled” into one!

  • My husband and I celebrated his birthday with a private dinner by Chef Takamasa. We had a phenomenal experience, and highly recommend him! His food is truly special and unique. The ingredients he used were imported from Japan. His preparation was perfect. I’ve never had such an amazing piece of scallop sushi before, and his wagyu beef was so tender it practically melts in your mouth. We were very full afterwards. Thanks and gratitude to you, Chef Taka!

  • Wow! We were blown away by the food. Best meal we've had in a long time. Chef Taka worked tirelessly in the kitchen to give us a beautifully plated course meal. He even accommodated our vegetarians with excellent alternative choices. All of our guests had an amazing time. Thank you for making our first Supper Club experience an unforgettable one. We will definitely be hiring Chef Taka again. Worth every penny!!!

  • Our Chef Takamasa experience was absolutely lovely. We celebrated my son’s 21st birthday. Chef Takamasa cooked a beautiful Japanese fusion meal (Nobu style). His sushi and sashimi were fresh, refreshing and delicious. And, ended the meal with a plate of fresh and savory fruit. Presentation was simple and elegant. He certainly exceeded our expectations. He was a joy to be around and very flexible and accommodating. Thank you for making Michael’s day a bit more special.🙏🏼

  • Chef Takamasa prepared an incredible intimate dinner for my guests and I. He arrived punctually and had all his equipment and ingredients. The quality of the food and presentation was better than Nobu but with the personal touch of the chef and his wonderful server, Gaja. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and I will definitely have a repeat performance in the near future!!!😋🍣

Not only was the food extraordinary from appetizer to dessert, but the chef was accommodating, extremely gracious, and made the birthday celebration extraordinary. I will definitely be hiring him again for more occasions. I could have not been more pleased with the Table at Home experience as well the experience we had with Chef Taka 100/5 stars :)

  • We were looking to do something different for Valentine’s Day - a holiday that is often underwhelming at most restaurants and Chef Taka completely blew us away. His food was on par, if not better, than most high end Japanese restaurants in LA. Quality ingredients, beautiful presentation and very knowledgeable of his craft. On top of everything, Chef Taka was extremely personable which further added to an incredible experience. Cleanup was top notch, leaving us with a space just as it was when he arrived. I would highly recommend Chef Taka for your next meal.

  • Chef Takamasa was great! The sushi tasted delicious , it was fresh, he was a very good teacher but he was also warm and kept the energy up as this was for my husband 34th birthday party! We couldnt have asked for a more fun, learning & delicious experience.
