As a Filipino-American growing up in New York City, I have always had a deep connection to food.
After receiving a degree in biology I decided to follow my passion in the culinary world.
While working on getting my degree in the Culinary Arts at the French Culinary Institute, I worked closely with French chefs in NYC.
Having fallen in love with the French culture, I then pursued an opportunity to work in the South of France. I gained a position as Sous Chef of a 1 star Michelin Hotel/Restaurant – helping run the gastronomic restaurant, bistro & large events.
When I returned to New York, I then worked in some top kitchens such as Eleven Madison Park, Minetta Tavern & Oxalis.
With the city gone to a halt after the shutdown, I spent some time with the ReThink x EMP program making up to 2,000 free meals for hospitals and communities that were in need. A very grounding opportunity to really get back to the meaning of what it means to cook.
Throughout my life and career, the skills I have cultivated shine brightly in my work and I’m always looking for opportunities to share my love of food & culture with others.
